Position: IT Manager, SHM PRODUCTIONS LTD

IT Manager – SHM

SHM is a London‑based consulting firm that tackles complex, human‑centric problems for a range of global clients. Our work spans customer insights, corporate strategy, organisational relationship development and B2B communications, with a focus on motivations behind behaviours and the application of academic insights to the corporate world.

Role Overview

This role focuses on supporting a high‑output team based in London and globally. The IT Manager will deliver first‑class IT service, maintain office and home office equipment for senior leadership, and support the Head of IT in technology strategy, training and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive IT support, troubleshooting and solving ad‑hoc queries for all staff.
  • Manage the maintenance, set‑up and deployment of laptops, printers, security systems and phones.
  • Monitor and tune system performance and security for Microsoft Windows Server, client technologies, Apple iOS and web hosting.
  • Develop IT guides, policies and training materials, including AI‑enabled solutions.
  • Digitise logs, formalise IT processes and maintain an asset register.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance, data confidentiality and safe data management; manage breach response with Data Owner/Head of IT.
  • Run IT‑related errands for founders and senior leaders and support their home office security.
  • Maintain compliance logs and report to the Compliance Committee and Head of IT.
  • Conduct the annual IT audit in partnership with the Head of IT.
  • Research up‑to‑date technologies to keep SHM at the cutting edge of IT and AI adoption.
  • Manage licence renewals and create regular compliance reports.
  • Coordinate office maintenance tasks and support risk assessment and health & safety initiatives.
  • Assist with room booking system implementation and maintain facility processes.
Essential Skills
  • Strong technical IT knowledge:
    Windows Server, client technologies, Apple iOS, web hosting.
  • Proficient in monitoring, tuning performance and securing systems.
  • Experience with GDPR, confidentiality and data security best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to create clear procedures and train staff.
  • Analytical mindset, able to diagnose root causes and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Proficient in Windows Server (2019+), Unix, iOS, Android, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and Asana.
  • Basic knowledge of Mac 1st/2nd line support and hardware.
  • Trustworthy, proactive and able to work flexibly, including outside normal hours when required.
  • Team player with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across all levels.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • IT certifications (e.g., ACSP/ACiT, MCSE or role‑based equivalents).
  • At least 5 years of recent professional IT experience in a similar managerial role.
  • Strong technical IT management skills.
  • Fluency in English.
Employment Details
  • Contract: Full time – Permanent
  • Line Manager: Head of IT and Head of People and Operations
  • Location: London offices (travel required to support founders and senior leadership)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 09:00 – 18:00
  • Background Check: Basic DBS check required
