Job Summary:
Fully Remote Web Designer (Figma & Custom Word Press)
We are seeking a skilled Web Designer capable of transforming client briefs into polished Figma designs and subsequently building those designs in Word Press using custom themes—not relying on pre-built templates. The ideal candidate confidently handles UX thinking, layout decisions, and robust front-end development.
About the AgencyWe are a small, fully remote agency based in the Midlands, operating successfully for 25 years. Despite our size, we consistently deliver high-level work, often exceeding larger teams. Our prestigious portfolio includes clients such as Ali Express, City of London Corporation, Canterbury Cathedral, The Design Museum, and Engel & Völkers. You will have the opportunity to produce impactful work for these respected organizations and more.
We value continuous improvement. If you are keen to learn, sharpen your skills, and take on increasing responsibility, you will thrive here. We ensure you are properly equipped, providing a powerful Mac, necessary software, and a straightforward working culture focused on efficient delivery.
Key Responsibilities:What You'll Do
- Translate client briefs into clean, organized Figma layouts.
- Develop UI components, simple design systems, and comprehensive page flows.
- Build custom Word Press themes based on your own designs, avoiding pre-built templates.
- Implement functionality using ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), Gutenberg blocks, and maintain solid front-end structure.
- Manage small interactions, animations, and ensure flawless responsive behavior across devices.
- Strong Figma skills for design and prototyping.
- Excellent understanding of UX principles and clean interface layout.
- Confidence in building custom Word Press themes from scratch.
- Solid knowledge of ACF, Gutenberg, and general Word Press standards.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic PHP.
- Proven ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Previous agency experience.
- Comfortable presenting work and designs directly to clients.
Do not apply if:
- You are primarily a developer with only light design skills or casual design interests.
- You rely heavily on templates or page builders for project delivery.
- You cannot showcase recent Figma work created entirely by yourself.
- You cannot provide links to live sites or completed builds you have personally delivered.
- You struggle with independent work or require constant direction.
- You are not actively looking to improve your skills or accept constructive feedback.
