Senior Information Systems Analyst

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Information Systems Analyst within our busy Information Team. As the Trust recently implemented a new Electronic Patient Record and is about to begin the implementation of Business Intelligence Software, we need an individual who will work within a small development team to enhance and maintain our data warehouse infrastructure. You will contribute to the design, build and transformation of data from core Trust systems in our data warehouse to ensure the data is available for analyst colleagues in the team.
Technical skills in SQL Server data warehousing are required.
As a Specialist Trust we are a small team, so you will be required to work closely with analyst colleagues and stakeholders within the Trust. This brings great opportunities to support and understand the operational requirements of the organisation and see how the data supports patient care.

You will work closely with a small Development Team and other Analysts to enhance the data warehouse that was recently built to support the new Electronic Patient Record throughout the Trust. The key purpose of the role is to provide an information service to support data analysis and information management needs of the Trust. The post holder will need to ensure the effective functioning of the various information technology systems and coordinate system development and implementation as well as be responsible for improving the processing, production and distribution of activity and performance information within the Trust.
Jobresponsibilities
- Act as the Database Administrator for the Trust data warehouse.
- Monitor and maintain the operational function of the data warehouse daily, ensuring all data extracts and automated imports have successfully completed.
- Load reference and other data into the data warehouse in a timely manner.
- Serve as the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding the Data Warehouse and lead response to potential issues, escalating as necessary.
- Develop the data warehouse with key members of the team, suppliers and developers, creating bespoke designs and solutions that may influence practices beyond your area.
- In collaboration with IT support, maintain the Information Department databases and applications, including backup data.
- Lead the maintenance and development of the Trust’s existing in‑house databases and applications.
- Identify opportunities to build on existing information databases and reporting platforms.
- Design, build and implement solutions to expand the scope of the Apollo EPR system, CRIS (radiology system) and Theatre systems, streamlining data handling processes.
- Coordinate specification, design and implementation of new and revised information systems, and develop solutions to agreed specifications.
- Produce and maintain documentation on the design, testing and use of information systems with sufficient detail for modification, support or use by others.
- Ensure changes to information systems adhere to the Trust’s change control process.
- Maintain and develop knowledge of NHS data structures, ensuring system development complies with the NHS Data Dictionary.
- Act as the lead technical specialist (Database Design/Software code/Programming) for the Information Department and provide expert advice to team members on SQL and other software, challenging them constructively.
- Ensure all national returns, internal routine reporting and information requests are dealt with within agreed timescales.
- Develop a broad understanding of the Trust’s key systems and processes to support information requests.
