Social Media and Administrative Assistant

THE EMPLOYER IS: YELLOW ZEST LTD Yellow Zest is a growing creative digital studio based in Belfast, supporting small businesses through branding, social media management and web design. As the business continues to grow, we are creating a new part‑time role specifically through the Job Start Scheme to support our social media and admin functions. This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in digital marketing, content creation and working within a creative agency environment.

The successful participant will receive structured training, hands‑on experience and ongoing mentorship across social media management, content creation, client communication and administration. The role is designed as a quality opportunity with clear learning outcomes and progression. Our intention is to support the participant to develop practical and transferable skills with the aim of offering continued employment at the end of the Job Start placement, subject to performance and business needs.

The role will be delivered through a blended model of in‑office work and remote work. Full training will be provided in all software, tools, workflows and communication standards used within the business.

Responsibilities
  • Support the creation of content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and Linked In) for our monthly retained clients, using tools such as Canva for graphics and Cap Cut for basic video editing.
  • Upload, schedule and publish content across multiple accounts in line with monthly content calendars.
  • Monitor engagement, track performance and produce monthly analytics reports to identify trends, growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in researching current social media trends, competitor activity and industry best practice to help inform strategy.
  • Support internal administrative tasks such as organising folders, updating client records, and maintaining task tracking systems.
  • Assist with preparing client proposals and occasional communication with clients regarding content approvals or clarifications.
  • Attend weekly internal planning sessions and (where appropriate) join client check‑ins to gain confidence in communication and project coordination.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Basic digital literacy and confidence using a computer.
  • Willingness to learn new software and online tools.
  • Ability to create and edit basic visual content using tools such as Canva Basic video editing skills or willingness to learn tools such as Cap Cut.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail when scheduling content and handling client work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing.
  • Professional use of email for internal and external communication.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines.
  • Willingness to work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms such as Instagram Facebook and Linked In or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to store organise and manage files using Google Drive.
  • Previous experience managing or posting content on social media accounts.
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics.
  • Experience using scheduling tools such as Buffer Meta Business Suite or similar.
  • Ability to analyse engagement trends and highlight key insights.
  • Experience preparing simple reports or summaries.
  • Familiarity with Slack or similar internal communication tools.
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients in a professional manner.
  • Interest in marketing branding or digital media.
  • Experience supporting admin tasks such as preparing proposals or updating documents.
  • Ability to work in a blended environment combining office‑based and remote work.
  • Ability capturing photo and video content.
  • Drivers license to attend sites for recording content.
