If you are a technically rigorous product leader drawn to the challenge of rebuilding education through AI, 2 Hour Learning seeks an engineering-focused architect to drive the evolution of our AI-powered learning platform. This position demands the technical depth of a CTO, the strategic vision to lead transformational initiatives, and the commitment to apply both toward unlocking student potential at scale.
2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we have reconstructed the school experience from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students do not simply improve—they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrating multi-year academic acceleration within a single year, and routinely surpassing their own benchmarks. We have validated that when AI functions as the foundational operating system of education, student performance reaches transformative levels.
This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our complete learning infrastructure. You will be accountable for the critical technical tradeoffs that keep our products streamlined, scalable, and unwaveringly oriented toward advancing student outcomes. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while maintaining the velocity of a product entrepreneur, synthesizing engineering discipline with learning science principles to deliver continuous innovation.

What You Will Be Doing
- Building and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
- Authoring technical specifications that resolve critical technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and sustainable design
- Deploying generative AI solutions to automate and optimize engineering workflows, supporting the organizational goal of minimizing manual effort

- Exclusively managing people; your technical and business judgment will be central to this role
- Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes so you can concentrate on delivering business impact through direct contribution
- Proposing high-level strategies without actionable implementation plans; your guidance must be grounded in product-level understanding
Vice President Of Product Engineering Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, commanding core capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership
Basic Requirements
- Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data-driven learning science
- 7+ years of experience driving critical architecture and design decisions on software initiatives, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies
- 2+ years of experience making design decisions that incorporate cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
- 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
- Experience developing product features that leverage advanced Generative AI capabilities
- Experience applying Generative AI to streamline work processes
