** Sompo has a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Underwriter in our Property Insurance Team in Switzerland.

This is a super opportunity for a dynamic and driven candidate to be involved in shaping the business and contributing to the development of a successful property account.  For this role, we are looking for an underwriter with expertise in technical risks to complement the existing team.

This position will be based out of our Zurich office and it’s very much a market facing role.  The successful candidate should be a team player whilst also being able to work independently.

**** What you’ll be doing:
*** Underwriting corporate property insurance business from the Swiss Market
* As a business in a development phase, you’ll be actively engaged in the following important areas as we develop our capabilities:  + Day to day underwriting  + Sales & distribution  + Broker and client meetings  + Peer reviews and referrals with colleagues  + Wording & product development  + Defining underwriting strategy  + Collaborating with other lines of business (Financial lines, Marine & Casualty.

A&H), distribution and country management to identify target clients.
** What you’ll bring:
*** Experience (10+ years) in property insurance underwriting focussing on large commercial and corporate clients
* Strong existing relationships with brokers and clients
* Specific experience in technical occupancies such as pharmaceutical, chemical and energy
* Familiarity with risk engineering practices and standards
* International insurance program experience
* A collaborative, team approach to your work
* A “can do” solution focussed approach to your tasks.
* Fluency (written and spoken) in German and English.
