Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate settlements with claimants, policyholders, and legal representatives in a professional and timely manner.
• Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and recommendations for claim closure or further action.
• Liaise with external adjusters, legal counsel, and repair services as required.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to junior claims handlers and other team members.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claim activities within the company's claims management system.
• Proactively identify potential fraud indicators and

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of claims handling processes and procedures.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance claims assessing, with a strong emphasis on property claims.
• Proven track record in handling complex and high-value claims.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance policies, legal frameworks, and claims management best practices.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Insurance, Law, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally within the Pietermaritzburg area for assessments.
