The Atkins
Réalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for delivering infrastructure projects and combines project and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team delivers design services across Water Infrastructure, Defence, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations) and Urban Developments. We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Project Manager to join our North, Scotland and Northern Ireland (NS&NI) practice, based from the Newcastle office.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for projects from inception through to completion.
- Deliver project management and contract administration through the project life cycle, ensuring common understanding of scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces.
- Lead the project team – build, motivate, coach and develop the team while communicating and engaging with the client.
- Deliver governance arrangements for projects, implementing corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures.
- Prioritise safety throughout delivery and manage the project within agreed budgets.
- Manage risk (and opportunity) from inception through to completion.
- Administer and negotiate change control from inception through to completion.
- Manage approved sub‑contractor procurement processes.
- Monitor and report project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and other team members as required.
- Deliver projects in accordance with Atkins

- Engineering background with design management, project management and contract administration experience.
- Experience in a Project Management position, managing design projects from inception to completion.
- Experience working closely with multi‑disciplinary design teams.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and flexible working attitude, adaptable to challenges.
- APM PMQ (or equivalent) recognised level of competence in Project Management – desirable.
- Experience deploying construction contracts, particularly NEC3/4 or bespoke forms.
- Strong client‑facing and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead a delivery team confidently with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude.
