Our growing Social Value Service Line supports our engagement with clients, service offering and the communities we work within. Our team members gain experience on some of the world's largest and most challenging projects, working with a diverse range of clients and communities across many sectors including water, oil and gas, power, renewables, infrastructure and the built environment.

Atkins is looking to appoint a Social Value Consultant based in Chelmsford or Ipswich to support the development of Social Value Consultancy Services within our UK & Europe business. We value experience and drive in creating better communities, rather than a specific sector background.

This role is full‑time but we are open to part‑time arrangements. The role requires presence in the office/on site a minimum of three days per week with regular travel between Chelmsford and Ipswich offices. There is flexibility to work from home for the remaining two days per week.

Your Role
  • Create and maintain strong client relationships to promote social value.
  • Value services and other services from within Atkins

    Réalis.
  • Develop, manage and deliver Social Value delivery plans for clients and project teams.
  • Plan and run Social Value programmes/activities, including managing community partners and engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively across the business and with joint venture partners.
  • Play an active part in business development for the team – including network building, identification of opportunities, bidding and client presentations.
  • Support procurement and management of suppliers and supply chain engagement and upskilling.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable industry experience in the delivery of social value activities and programmes.
  • Passionate about social impact and ensuring communities have a real say in shaping projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of the social value landscape in England, economic impact, environmental management, corporate responsibility or sustainability.
  • Commercial awareness and business development skills.
  • Proactive, confident team player who can also work independently.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to finish work to a high standard.
  • Ability to write bids and think creatively for social value responses to win work.
  • Comfortable with multi‑tasking and change.
  • Relevant qualification in social, environmental, natural science or similar, or demonstrable industry experience.
  • Excited by the prospect of learning and growing with Atkins.
Working Location & Arrangements

The role is based in Chelmsford or Ipswich, with regular travel between the two offices. You will work from home for up to two days per week, the remaining days in the office.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by UK Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residence in the UK for at least five years.
