We are recruiting an experienced Airfreight Imports Team Leader to lead and support a small, fast-paced operations team. This is a hands-on role requiring strong operational knowledge, leadership capability, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. You will oversee daily airfreight import operations, ensure full compliance with HMRC/BF and ETSF regulations, and foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Lead, motivate, and support a small airfreight operations team to deliver work to high standards Coach, mentor, and train team members, including regulatory and internal procedure updates Allocate and oversee daily workloads and ensure operational cover during holidays and sickness Conduct daily and weekly team meetings and escalate issues to management when required Promote a proactive, solutions-driven, and collaborative team culture Operational Management Manage airfreight import shipments end-to-end Ensure compliance with ETSF procedures and HMRC/BF regulations Monitor arrivals, trigger points, discrepancies, amendments, and claims Maintain and update customer and supplier records within internal systems Lead and participate in cross-departmental meetings with Transport, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams Service Quality & Customer Care Deliver a high level of customer service through clear and professional communication Handle and resolve queries from customers, suppliers, and agents Ensure efficient internal and external communication practices Develop and implement SOPs to meet specific customer requirements Conduct monthly audits of ETSF paperwork and customs entries Keep the team updated on HMRC/BF regulation changes Maintain dashboards and internal records to ensure accurate shipment and compliance data Ensure procedural changes are documented and communicated effectively Skills & Attributes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational and administrative abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume environment Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset Confident decision-making with sound judgement Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications 35 years experience in airfreight imports operations (Essential) Strong understanding of customs processes and entries (Essential) Working knowledge of ETSF and HMRC/BF regulations (Essential) Previous team leadership or supervisory experience (Preferred training available) Proficient in MS Office and internal logistics systems (Essential) 4 on 4 off days 07.00am
