Youth Engagement Coordinator – CPAWS-BC

Position: Youth Engagement Coordinator
Organization: CPAWS-BC
Location: Flexible for remote work in British Columbia within commuting distance of a major population centre (Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George).

Position Overview

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will coordinate and adaptively manage the Young Leaders in Conservation Program (YLICP), as well as other programming and initiatives designed to increase youth engagement and participation in conservation advocacy. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role works closely with both the Ocean and Land & Freshwater Conservation teams to lead a program that empowers and educates youth on conservation issues, leadership skills, and environmental advocacy.

A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check are required.

Position Details
  • Position type:
    Permanent full‑time; funding dependent.
  • Work hours:

    4‑day (32‑hour) work week, Monday through Thursday. Some travel, evening, and weekend hours required.
  • Compensation: $58,350 plus benefits.
  • Closing Final date to receive applications:

Responsibilities & Duties YLICP Coordination
  • Develop and manage the program schedule, ensuring all activities align with objectives.
  • Coordinate logistics for in‑person meetings and activities, including lodging, food, and travel.
  • Build and maintain relationships with educators, presenters, and guest speakers.
  • Work with conservation teams to align YLICP with CPAWS‑BC’s strategic goals.
Participant & Alumni Engagement
  • Manage recruitment, outreach to diverse communities, and online & in‑person training sessions.
  • Create inclusive spaces that uphold Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.
  • Recruit and support an advisory committee of past participants.
  • Grow and develop the alumni engagement program.
Communications & Community Engagement
  • Develop and support outreach initiatives with conservation teams.
  • Conduct outreach to local organizations, tabling at public events.
  • Support program promotion through social media, blogs, emails, and digital communications.
  • Raise CPAWS‑BC and YLICP through events and community outreach.
Financial Tracking & Program Evaluation
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Prepare funder reports with guidance from senior staff.
  • Lead program monitoring and evaluation, reviewing processes and making recommendations.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure outcomes and inform improvements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education

A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, conservation, political science, or a related field would be an asset but is not required.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Project management tools, work‑plan development, and monitoring processes.
  • Solid understanding or keen interest in conservation issues and environmental advocacy.
  • Experience working with youth, delivering educational programs, and coordinating events tailored for young people.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms, content creation tools, and video/photo editing; experience with CRMs, action platforms, Word Press, or similar.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to track and evaluate progress using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Proficiency in running interactive workshops or sessions, in‑person and online.
