We’re looking for a Food Technologist to join our Food Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a client-facing role where you’ll manage product data, ensure compliance, and support Whitbread’s Force for Good strategy – all while working with a wide range of menus and suppliers.

At NSF, we’re offering more than just a technical role – you’ll help ensure that millions of guests enjoy safe, high-quality food every day, while supporting sustainability and health initiatives. You’ll be joining a global organisation with over 80 years of expertise, delivering world-class testing, certification, and advisory services. With offices and labs across the UK, Europe, and beyond, NSF is uniquely positioned to provide unmatched technical support and client service.

What We Offer
  • Hybrid Working:
Based at Whitbread HQ in Dunstable, with flexibility to work from home.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package:
Includes health cover, death in service benefit, company sick pay scheme, and income protection.
  • Wellbeing Support:
Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and an annual paid Mental Wellness Day.
  • Volunteering Time:
Paid time off to support causes you care about.
  • Career Development:
Opportunities to learn and grow within a global organisation.
Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide expert technical advice.
  • Manage allergy, nutritional, and lifestyle data for guests, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Review technical data for new products and improvements to meet Whitbread guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate product specifications and ensure policies, provenance, and quality standards are met.
  • Support audits and compliance with Whitbread’s Force for Good strategy.
  • Review menus and ensure all copy is legal and accurate for the relevant market.
  • Assist with complaints and incident management related to food safety, legality, and quality.
Qualifications
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a technical or development role within food manufacturing, retail, or hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge of food labelling legislation and specification management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with web-based specification systems.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing role.
  • Occasional UK travel may be required.
