Computational Drug Design Scientist

Kuano is pioneering new approaches to computational drug design, bringing quantuminsights, molecular modeling and AI together to help discover and optimise novel smallmolecule medicines. The vision is for physics based approaches to act as “world models”,
enhancing data driven technologies, enabling the creation of innovative therapies for targets that are currently deemed undruggable. They are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the
exciting crossroads of:
- Structural biology
- Computational chemistry
The successful candidate will lead internal and client-facing projects, taking responsibility for translating complex requirements into actionable modelling plans that impact drug design decision makers. This role combines hands‑on execution of simulation and data analysis campaigns, overseeing collaborative projects and working with the technical team to build and adapt scalable workflows to enhance drug design.

RequirementsTechnical
- Understanding of standard molecular simulation and structural biology tools (docking, molecular dynamics, free energy calculations)
- Expertise in data analysis in relevant chemical and biological problems
- Experience in computational drug design and/or structural biology research
- Proficiency in scripting and knowledge of relevant software packages
- Background in developing AI/machine learning models
- Knowledge of quantum chemistry simulation techniques
- Excellent scientific communication skills
- Motivated to independently deliver complex scientific projects
- Team player
- Experience leading scientific teams
- Exposure to delivering projects for external clients
Join the team in pursuing ambitious goals—all candidates welcome with experience or the potential to grow into the role. The compensation package combines salary and share options, with remuneration expected to be between £55k and £75k.
Since the inception, Kuano has operated primarily as a remote organisation. Their are now excited to expand our collaborative in‑person work, with hubs in London and Cambridge, while continuing to embrace the flexibility of remote working.
