THEPOSITION
The Sales Engineer serves as the vital operational pivot between global field sales agents, internal technical experts, and international equipment vendors to drive commercial accuracy and operational speed. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the mission of this role is to manage the end-to-end technical quotation lifecycle and purchase order validation for heavy industrial machinery, spare parts, and complex equipment packages.
By rapidly translating vague field requests into precise commercial proposals, the Sales Engineer eliminates sales bottlenecks, protects commercial margins, and directly impacts the company’s growth across international markets.
- Revise incoming field requests and opportunity tickets for technical completeness, resolving missing parameters or regional terminology differences before quote generation.
- Liaise with equipment vendors and suppliers to obtain current pricing, lead times, and technical specifications for diverse industrial product lines.
- Build precise cost/margin worksheets and commercial quotes ranging from rapid 5-item replacement parts to complex 200-line seasonal capital budgets for supervisory approval.
- Maintain a rapid turnaround pace while managing an active pipeline of 15 to 20 complex quotation opportunities simultaneously.
- Perform rigorous quality control on incoming customer Purchase Orders (POs), verifying part numbers, descriptions, pricing validity, and payment terms against original quotations.
- Collaborate directly with field sales agents to reconcile discrepancies or missing details prior to order entry.
- Input validated PO data into Salesforce to trigger logistics and fulfillment workflows seamlessly.
- Partner with internal engineering teams to clarify complex customer requirements and confirm component compatibility.
- Maintain clean documentation, quote histories, and tracking records in Salesforce.
- Contribute to refining quoting templates, pricing price lists, and CRM processes to increase organizational efficiency and quotation speed.
- Quotation Accuracy:
Achieve a 98%+ accuracy rate on pricing, component specifications, and margin calculations across ~600 annual quotes. - Turnaround Velocity:
Maintain prompt, predictable quote response times without creating sales bottlenecks for urgent field inquiries. - Order Processing Precision:
Ensure flawless reconciliation of incoming POs into Salesforce to minimize post-sale operational delays.
The ideal candidate is a highly structured, detail-driven technical professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Possessing an engineering background and a strong grasp of industrial machinery components, this individual excels at bringing order to ambiguous customer requests while balancing daily pressure from field sales teams. They are an exceptional communicator who acts with autonomy, analytical rigor, and cool-headed resilience.
KeyCandidate Requirements Experience

- Hands-on experience preparing multi-line commercial quotations and reviewing industrial Purchase Orders for commercial and technical accuracy.
