Position: Social Worker - Children in Care (Temporary)
About the Role

Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by providing high-quality social work support and care planning.

Location:

Civic Centre, Walsall (with flexibility to work from home and the Leaving Care Hub)

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
Develop and implement care plans in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
Attend reviews, court hearings, and other statutory meetings as required.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation.
Support young people transitioning to independence through effective planning and engagement.

Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Experience working within Children in Care services.
Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks and care planning processes.
Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List clearance.
