Family Preservation Counsellor – Family Services of Greater Vancouver
Position Type: Permanent Part‑Time (28 hrs per week)
Location: 4103 Fraser Street, East King Edward, Vancouver, BC V5V 4E9 (Hybrid option with in‑home work)
Pay Range: CA $37.00/hr (Base rate) – salary based on skills and experience.
Job SummaryThe Family Preservation Counsellor provides services to families promoting healthier family functioning, links families to community resources, and offers parenting education, support, and counselling to children and families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe role involves providing parenting education, support, and counselling to families, linking to resources, and working with families facing poverty and mental health issues.
Qualifications- Education: Masters degree in social work, clinical counselling, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge: Child welfare policies and practices; parenting strategies; child/adolescent development; addictions, violence, abuse, mental health.
- Additional Requirements: Class 5 Driver’s License and personal vehicle; ability to work evenings and weekends; successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
- Flexible scheduling.
- Three weeks’ vacation for full‑time staff, prorated for part‑time.
- Three paid household leave days per year.

- Two and a half paid Agency days for full‑time staff, prorated for part‑time.
- Five paid days for education leave per year.
