We’re looking for a Senior Ruby Engineer to join the Payments team and help evolve the platform that powers millions of subscription bills worldwide.

You’ll design and deliver features across our Ruby on Rails ecosystem, integrate with multiple payment service providers (PSPs), and improve resiliency and user experience at a global scale. This is a full-time role with long-term engagement.

This remote position, ideally suited for candidates located in LATAM or the US time zones, is perfect for someone with a deep technical background in Ruby backend stack and AWS cloud solutions.

Must-have for the position
  • 5+ years of backend experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails for high-scale, production systems;
  • Payments domain experience, including integrations with PSPs such as Stripe, Braintree, Adyen;
  • 3+ years of Experience with AWS building, operating, and monitoring cloud services;
  • Strong ownership, clear communication, and ability to drive projects end-to-end;
  • English Level: Upper-Intermediate English or higher.
Will be a strong plus
  • Databricks exposure (e.g., analytics/observability workflows around payments);
  • Hands-on use of AI productivity tools for coding (e.g., Cursor, ChatGPT/Copilot-style assistants).
Responsibilities
  • Own and enhance the payments & billing platform, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and great UX across the subscription lifecycle;
  • Design, implement, and ship new features and services in Ruby/Rails to support billing, retries, dunning, and PSP capabilities;
  • Integrate and optimize multi-PSP payment flows (auth, capture, refunds, chargebacks, reconciliations);
  • Improve observability & resilience (logging/metrics/alerts, graceful degradation, idempotency, retries);
  • Partner with product, data, finance, and support to troubleshoot production issues and deliver high-quality outcomes;
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical design docs, and team standards.

Client is an American e-book and audiobook subscription service that includes one million titles. The platform hosts 60 million documents on its open publishing platform.

The platform allows anyone to share their ideas with the world, access to audio books, access to the world’s composers who publish their music, and incorporates articles from private publishers and world magazines.

The payments and billing platform powers millions of subscription bills globally, integrating with multiple PSPs to process payments for a global subscription platform (authorization, settlement, refunds, invoicing, dunning).

Tech Stack and Team Composition

Tech Stack:
Ruby on Rails application running on AWS, integrating with multiple PSPs (Stripe, Braintree, Adyen).

Team Composition:
You’ll work within a payments squad of 3–4 engineers, collaborating with product and adjacent platform teams.
