Senior Software Engineer - Labyrinth Screening

Ripjar specialises in the development of software and data products that help governments and organisations combat serious financial crime. Our technology is used to identify criminal activity such as money laundering, enabling organisations to enforce sanctions at scale and help combat rogue entities and state actors.

We are a remote-first team with a head office based in Cheltenham, and this position is open to UK-wide candidates. If you are based near Cheltenham, you are more than welcome to work from our office at any time.

Team mission

Our engineering team builds software that makes the world a safer place. We work collectively to use technology, creativity and engineering best practice to solve problems that nobody else can.

What you’ll be doing

Join us in the fight against global financial crime. As part of Labyrinth Screening, an advanced AI-powered platform, you will design, develop and ship features that help major financial institutions detect and prevent money laundering and fraud in real time.

Key technology challenges
  • Developing our scalable, multi-tenant, cloud-based SaaS-first architecture.
  • Upgrading our Dev Ops tooling to ship code fast with certainty.
  • Harnessing the power of Labyrinth Screening to work with new types of data at scale within Ripjar’s wider financial crime solutions.
As a Software Engineer on the Labyrinth Screening team, you’ll:
  • Design, develop, and ship cutting‑edge features that stop criminals in their tracks.
  • Shape our scalable, multi-tenant, cloud-first architecture to handle billions of data points.
  • Upgrade and evolve our Dev Ops ecosystem to deliver code rapidly and confidently.
  • Collaborate across disciplines — engineering, product, UX, and operations — to turn bold ideas into reliable, production-ready solutions.
  • Continuously improve the platform’s performance, reliability, and developer experience.

The successful candidate should have these skills. We don’t require you to tick every box; if you’re curious, adaptable, and ready to grow, we want to hear from you.

  • Distributed systems and event streaming (Kafka, Kubernetes).
  • Databases and search indexes (Mongo
