Senior Software Engineer (Security) (Remote from Italy)  We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Security) in Italy. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain advanced security features for large-scale web platforms, ensuring resilience against emerging threats and protecting sensitive data. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to implement secure software practices, perform thorough testing, and contribute to the overall security architecture.

Accountabilities   Design, develop, and deliver security features and enhancements for web platforms
Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure safe architectural and implementation decisions
Lead by example in code review, decision-making, and team culture, fostering transparency, empathy, and collaboration
Develop, review, and deploy security solutions implemented by the team and community contributors
Maintain security-critical components, address technical debt, and perform security maintenance
Provide support during application security incidents and operational challenges
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers on secure development practices
Requirements   5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on security
Proficiency in PHP and JavaScript and experience working in modern codebases
Strong understanding of secure software development, threat modeling, and application-level vulnerabilities
Ability to break down complex projects into actionable tasks and create proofs of concept
Experience explaining security issues, privacy risks, and mitigation strategies to non-technical stakeholders
Comfort working in a remote, distributed team environment
Nice-to-have: experience with bot detection, CAPTCHA, security countermeasures, Media Wiki, open-source contributions, and secure design patterns
