Senior Software Engineer
Join us at Thomson Reuters to design and build robust backend services that power modern Angular-based applications. This role involves developing scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, collaborating closely with frontend teams, ensuring seamless integration across the stack, contributing to architectural decisions, mentoring team members, and driving best practices in backend development using AI-driven tools.

Responsibilities

Design and implement backend services and APIs to support Angular applications.

Develop and refactor existing products, providing enhancements and resolving defects.

Perform unit, integration, and performance testing as part of the development cycle.

Guide the team in adopting and utilizing AI-powered tools for code generation, automated testing, defect prediction, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in Java backend development for enterprise or SaaS applications.

Experience with agile/iterative development methodologies.

Strong expertise in Java, J2EE, Spring, and Hibernate.

Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP, and SOA.

Proficiency in SQL and relational databases; exposure to No

SQL is a plus.

Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and build tools (Gradle, Maven).

Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and cloud‑based deployments.

Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Analysis, Design, and Implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of design patterns and enterprise integration patterns.

Experience with open‑source frameworks and modern development tools.

Exposure to microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for backend systems.

Demonstrated experience in using AI tools or frameworks to improve backend workflows.

Compensation
Base compensation range for Ontario, Canada: $90,000 CAD – $140,000 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on multiple factors. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus.
