About the Role
The Smart Trailer and Connected Equipment business unit is one of the fastest‑growing product lines  a full‑stack engineer on the team, you will deliver end‑to‑end solutions such as tracking utilization of equipment, monitoring loads and temperature through sensors, and providing asset‑tracking solutions that give a complete picture of where a customer’s assets are deployed. This role is remote and open to candidates residing in Canada.

Relocation assistance will not be provided.

Responsibilities

Bring a customer‑focused mindset to all development, balancing the need to iterate quickly and deliver customer wins iteratively.

Partner with the Engineering Manager to advocate for the long‑term technical health of our products alongside product priorities.

Act as a force multiplier on the team by leveraging other engineers and personally exemplifying how to deliver value at Samsara.

Mentor other engineers by actively participating in design and implementation conversations across the team.

Champion, role‑model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles—Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team—as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of relevant industry experience in software development.

Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in at least one of:
Go, Graph

QL, Type Script, React.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions.

Great team‑player mentality, enjoying collaborative work with engineers across various focus areas (infra, firmware, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

Built and shipped a 0‑1 product and understands how to scale for growth and business impact post‑launch.

Understanding of how to build for stability and growth while being responsive to customer feedback.

Prior experience working with geolocation data.

Compensation Philosophy
Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. This includes base salary, bonus/variable, and restricted stock unit awards (RSUs). RSUs are awarded at the time of hire and refreshed annually.
