We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead our effort to make Ubuntu the world’s best choice for mission‑critical systems in automotive, aerospace, industrial robotics and other highly regulated environments.
Job DescriptionLead our effort to get Ubuntu fit for applications in highly regulated environments. You will transform complex regulatory demands into concrete outcomes, leading and challenging engineering culture across the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Defining Canonical’s ways of working, collaborating with engineering leadership to design continuous improvement processes.
- Establishing qualification requirements to meet engineering quality standards and measuring quality.
- Building strategic relations with external working groups, committees and partners.
- Leading cross‑functional teams and unifying agile approaches across multiple projects.
- Providing guidance on open‑source software, open‑source compliance and certification.
- Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment.
- Knowledge or certification of standards addressing quality of software artifacts such as ISO/IEC 25010 or ASPICE.
- A demonstrated track record of developing and growing people and teams.
- Experience leading successful compliance and certification efforts with well‑understood processes and stakeholder management.
- Experience with Linux.
- Background as a software developer.
- Experience establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Your base pay will depend on factors such as geographical location, level of experience, and knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and rewards, including annual bonuses and sales incentives based on revenue or utilisation.
