Position: Senior Backend Engineer (AWS)

Base pay range

CA $76,000.00/yr - CA$/yr

Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Lumenalta, you will design and implement robust backend systems, ensuring our applications are secure, scalable, and efficient. You will work closely with Dev Ops and frontend teams to deliver high‑performance applications that leverage AWS cloud services and Kubernetes. Your responsibilities also include managing infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CDK and monitoring systems with tools like Grafana and Loki.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and optimize backend systems using Python and integrate with cloud services on AWS.
  • Design and deploy AWS infrastructure, focusing on scalability and security.
  • Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes, ensuring proper scaling, load balancing, and orchestration.
  • Automate infrastructure management with Terraform or AWS CDK for repeatable provisioning.
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions using Grafana and Loki.
  • Collaborate with Dev Ops, frontend, and product teams to deliver cohesive, scalable, secure applications.
  • Automate workflows and optimize infrastructure and application performance.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development, focusing on cloud‑native applications.
  • Proficiency in Python for backend services and scripting tasks.
  • Extensive experience with AWS core services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and microservices management.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana and Loki.
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, or Sys Ops) are a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for cloud‑native applications.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
Location

This is a fully remote position
; however, candidates must be based in regions aligned with the Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration with client and team schedules.
