About the role:

We are looking for an RRV Crane Controller to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Road Rail Vehicles equipped with lifting equipment. The role involves planning and overseeing lifting activities, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards, and coordinating with machine operators, site supervisors, and safety critical staff.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as the appointed Crane Controller for RRV lifting operations in accordance with Network Rail standards.
• Plan and oversee lifting activities, ensuring compliance with lift plans and safe systems of work.
• Conduct pre‑use checks and verify equipment certification before operations commence.
• Liaise with Machine Operators, Site Supervisors, and Safety Critical staff to coordinate activities.
• Monitor lifting operations to ensure adherence to safety protocols and intervene where necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, including risk assessments and lift plans.
• Report any incidents, near misses, or equipment defects promptly in line with company procedures.

Essential skills and experience required:

• Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) competence.
• Proven experience in RRV operations and crane control within a rail environment.
• Knowledge of Network Rail standards and lifting regulations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a safety‑critical team.

Desirable skills and experience:

• BTA (Basic Track Awareness) certification.
• ICI (Industry Common Induction) for broader site access.
• Lift Planning or Appointed Person training.
• First Aid certification.
