Financial Controller

Job Description

Privately owned group with c.£8m turnover, operating on a contract-based model. The business is appointing a Number 1 in Finance to take full responsibility for the finance function and strengthen controls, reporting and commercial decision-making.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will have full autonomy across finance and be responsible for both delivery and improvement.

• Full ownership of the finance function end to end
• Supervision and development of a Finance Assistant
• Production of monthly management accounts
• Day‑to‑day cashflow management and forecasting
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Implementing and developing new financial controls, processes and systems
• Reviewing and improving existing finance workflows
• Contract costing, re‑costing and margin analysis
• Commercial analysis to support pricing, tenders and new business decisions
• Board reporting and financial insight
• Hands‑on involvement across transactional finance when required
• Liaison with external accountants, auditors and advisors

• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar leadership role
• Strong technical grounding in management accounts and controls
• Experience implementing or improving finance systems and processes
• Commercially minded and confident working with and influencing directors
• Background in contract‑led or operational businesses beneficial

• £50,000 - £55,000
• Annual bonus
