Job Overview:

We are seeking a Junior Electrical Estimator to join our expanding Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) business. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates for electrical installation projects across various sectors such as commercial, industrial, and residential. You will work closely with our project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure all tenders are cost-effective and submitted on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Costing:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including material, labor, and equipment.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to prepare accurate pricing.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Ensure estimates align with project scope and client requirements.
• Create detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) based on project needs.

Tender Preparation:

• Complete tender documentation for submission to clients.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients, project managers, and contractors as required.
• Assist in negotiating and securing contracts based on tender submissions.

Risk Assessment:

• Identify and evaluate project risks, ensuring they are factored into the estimate.
• Make recommendations for cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the M&E team to integrate electrical estimates with mechanical components where applicable.
• Maintain open lines of communication with all departments to ensure smooth project delivery.

Project Handover & Support:

• Support project teams during handover after tender acceptance.
• Provide ongoing cost advice during project execution if necessary.

Skills & Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction, M&E, or contracting industry.

Skills:

• Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, including installation standards and regulations.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Amtech, Trimble, or similar).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar electrical estimating role.
• Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial electrical projects preferred.
• Familiarity with pricing tools and supplier management.
