This entry-level position welcomes candidates without previous scrap metals or recycling experience. You will learn scrap inspection, sortation, mobile equipment operation, and general yard maintenance. Strong communication and a strong work ethic support safe daily operations with coworkers, drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow Gerdau safety, environmental, and yard procedures
Operate forklifts while progressing toward loader operation
Inspect, sort, load, and unload scrap materials
Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care
Maintain clean work areas and equipment
Requirements:
Ability to learn scrap metals and recycling operations
Strong work ethic and communication skills
High school education preferred but not required
Desire to develop skills as a Gerdau employee
Ability to work in person in Guelph
Develop scrap inspection, forklift operation, equipment care, and safety skills while supporting Gerdau’s Guelph yard.
