Accounting Clerk – Calian Group

Calian Group – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – 6‑month contract with potential to become permanent – Salary: CA $60,000‑65,000

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Accounting Clerk will provide support in all areas of the Finance department, focusing primarily on the Accounts Payable function.

Responsibilities
  • Match packing lists to supplier invoices; ensure accuracy and validity of all supplier invoices
  • Communicate with vendors and internal personnel to gather required transaction details
  • Reconcile vendor information posted to the inventory management system on a timely basis
  • Prepare invoices for cheque payments and electronic funds transfers (EFT)
  • Allocate expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports
  • Reconcile and record credit card transactions
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable (AR) functions and become familiar with all AR areas to cover that role as required
  • Perform other finance‑related duties, including reconciliations and filing
Qualifications
  • A diploma or degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • 1+ years of accounts payable experience in a high‑volume environment
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects/tasks
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience with an ERP accounting software such as SAP is a definite asset
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Effective communication skills (English), both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
