Position: Transportation Planner/ Traffic Engineer
We are looking for a Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering team.
The Transportation group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies on large-scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit infrastructure, transportation planning, and roundabouts. Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics, and business case advice, through concept, Environmental Assessment, detailed design, and construction administration.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Contribute to the development of junior staffCoordinate work from different disciplines (municipal, structural, technical support staff,Develop client relationships and new business opportunitiesPrepare technical memos and reportsPrepare proposals and strategic capture plansPrepare needs assessment for road facilities and transit servicesUndertake research and analysis of land use, demographic, and travel dataResolve requirements and broader transportation impact for developments and projected land usesAssist with the preparation and analysis of travel forecastsDevelop and assess alternative road improvementsDevelop preliminary road and active transportation concept designs and conduct concept design evaluationIncorporate transit, pedestrian, transportation demand management strategies, and active transportation into studiesProvide traffic engineering/transportation planning services for Environmental Assessments, Preliminary and Detail roadway projectsReview and develop policy for transportationDevelop recommendations for transit service and transit accessPerform intersection operations analysisPerform microsimulation analysisDevelop and execute evaluation frameworks and business case analysis for implementation of transportation infrastructure.What you will bring to the team:
A degree in Civil Engineering or urban planning with at least 7 years of experience in transportationLicensed Professional Engineer, Registered Professional Planner or Engineer-in-training/Planning Candidate in OntarioSolid understanding of relevant transportation planning and traffic engineering policies and design standards in OntarioExperience with safety audits and collision analysisExperience in urban designExperience with AutoCAD or GIS is an assetExperience with Synchro, Sidra, Vissim, and/or other traffic softwareExperience with Adobe / Creative Suite is an assetProficient with Excel, Word, and Power Point Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)Excellent report and proposal writing skillsPositive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skillsPerforms well independently as well as in a team environment
