For more information, follow Telesat on X and Linked In or visit The Senior Test Engineering Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat Leo system with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab.
This position will be moved to our new Gatineau facility in 2026.
Main Responsibilities
In this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO systemWork with various Antenna Vendors to support the SOW, SRR, Test Requirements, Test Plans, Test Results and RVTM reviews, in addition to follow up on the integrate of the Antenna with the other components (Modem, and other interfaces).Work with the other segments to support the development of the internal Test Plans and verification methods.Support Over The Air (OTA) Test Planning and activities including the Test automation processes.Support System Acceptance Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.Develop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirementsCoordinate and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reportingServe as an RF expert and support other technical staff as requiredPlays an active role in component and subsystem design and test activitiesConfiguring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer etc.Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirementsKeep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessaryWork with partners and other vendors in various test campaignsEducation & Experience Required
B. S or Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in satellite communications10+ years of work experience in different antenna types like Flat Panel Antenna, Parabolic and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable)10+ years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator)Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design PracticesDemonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performanceExperience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performanceExperience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama)Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliersPreferred Qualifications
