Pretium is currently looking for an Experienced Building Science Professional to join the team and to provide solid leadership and help us expand our restoration service practice area in Ottawa.
The Experienced Building Science Professional is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, and design of both new and existing residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
The successful candidate is comfortable dealing with clients, communicating with contractors, and working on active construction sites.
A commitment to providing first-rate client service and technical excellence to deliver practical, creative solutions is essential.
An inquisitive outlook, a hard worker who readily and quickly assumes responsibility and a team player who can work independently with minimum direction are traits that are required to be successful in this role.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
• Graduate of Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, Applied Engineering, or Architectural Technology with more than 7 years of related building science / building envelope problem solving experience including investigation and report, design and construction documentation.
Reporting is to be concise, follow company report formats, and be based on project specific evidence.
Proficiency in design related software is considered an asset.
Work related mileage is reimbursed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Managing and/or assisting with project investigation, reporting, specification and drawing preparation, tendering, project management, quality observation and liaison with clients, contractors and manufacturers, as needed;
• Managing and/or assisting with field review/testing and data collection and preparation of technical/building audits or other investigative reports complete with observations, conclusions, recommendations and repair budgets;
• Responsible for budget and schedule control, technical competence, documentation quality and physical appearance of construction work to the Client and Project Team;
• Overseeing project team to ensure onsite quality control and adherence to prepared specifications;
• Peer review of reports, specification and/or drawings.
• Acquire skills that allow you to demonstrate the importance of budget, time management and scheduling.
