PurposePharmacy Assistants work with the Pharmacists and Registered Pharmacy Technicians to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy.
Job Title: Intake Pharmacy Assistant
Location: Royal Drugs, Ottawa

Salary: Hourly, commensurate with experience
Type: Full Time, Contract (6 months)
Job Responsibilities- Performing all technical aspects of dispensing of prescriptions, including receiving the order/refill, procuring complete and current information, computer entry, preparation and labeling in an efficient, accurate and timely fashion
- Screen and Triage Medical Referrals
- Respond to telephone inquiries from Care Coordinators, Nursing Providers and clinicians regarding medical referrals, supplies, equipment, infusion therapies and deliveries
- Determine method of infusion and order the necessary infusion supplies and equipment
- Assist the pharmacist in finding the appropriate information regarding the stability and compatibility of the IV admixtures
- Input IV orders in Kroll
- Manage ODB electronic billing and manual claims
- Coordinate the delivery schedule with dispatch
- Program IV pumps for specific therapies
- Assist nurses & caregivers in troubleshooting IV pump issues
- Test pumps for accuracy and manage pump returns, inspection and semi-annual testing
- Completion of technical training required
- Minimum 1 year full time working pharmacy experience
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy and productivity
- Reliability, strong communication, organizational skills, customer service, initiative, team work, sound judgement, interpersonal skills are essential
- Commitment to high standards
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a faster pace environment
- Must have computer skills
