Our Client, a global leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Embedded Software Test Engineer. This position joins a critical team responsible for developing and validating the control algorithms and software that power key vehicle features.

This team’s portfolio includes embedded systems controlling climate, vehicle starting, locking mechanisms, interior/exterior lighting, alarm systems, windows, powered enclosures (like liftgates and sunroofs), and advanced seat controls.

The ideal candidate will leverage their deep expertise in embedded systems and black box testing to ensure the robustness, reliability, and safety of this software before it reaches the customer. You will be responsible for translating complex requirements into comprehensive test strategies, automating test cases, and driving the defect management process from discovery to resolution.

Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning:
Analyze and review system requirements to develop comprehensive black box test strategies, including functional, integration, and regression test plans.

Test Case Development:
Author, review, and maintain clear, concise, and thorough test cases that ensure full requirement coverage.

Test Automation:
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks, primarily using Python, to increase testing efficiency and repeatability.

Execution & Analysis:
Execute manual and automated tests on HIL test environments, meticulously analyze results, and generate detailed test reports.

Defect Management:
Identify, document, and triage defects with precision. Collaborate closely with the development team to support defect reproduction, root cause analysis, and resolution.

Environment & CI/CD:
Set up and configure test environments, including HIL benches, and support the continuous integration (CI) pipeline (e.g., Jenkins).

Continuous Improvement:
Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives by analyzing escaped defects from the field and enhancing test coverage to prevent future occurrences.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

3-5 years of professional experience in embedded software, with a strong emphasis on black box testing and verification.

Automotive Protocols:
Working-level, hands-on experience with CAN and LIN communication protocols.

Test Methodology: A comprehensive understanding of software test methodologies and the process of translating system requirements into effective test cases.

Automation:
Proven experience with embedded software automation testing on hardware (HIL) and proficiency in Python scripting for test automation.

Preferred Qualifications
CI/CD:

Experience with continuous integration tools, specifically Jenkins.

Test Lifecycle:
Familiarity with the full test lifecycle, including test strategy definition, test case authoring, and defect management using tools like JIRA.

Advanced Training:
Advanced degrees or relevant industry certifications (e.g., ISTQB) are a plus.

Summary
This is a hybrid (4 days in-office) role for an Embedded Software Test Engineer focused on validating automotive software. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in embedded systems, black box testing, CAN/LIN protocols, and Python-based test automation. The engineer will be responsible for the complete testing lifecycle—from requirement analysis and test case creation to automation, execution, and defect triage—to ensure the quality of critical vehicle comfort and security features.
