Thales operates across aerospace, transportation, defence, security and space. The Ottawa office is a major technology hub and a long-standing partner to the Government of Canada and national defense organizations. This is a hybrid role in Ottawa, ON, with potential work sites including Halifax NS or Victoria BC at local shipyards.
Thales Canada is looking for a Business Analyst to document and mature naval in-service support processes amid ongoing digitization efforts. The role includes contributing to Value Stream Maps (VSM) using LEAN methodologies, identifying process improvements beyond changes required to support updated information technology offerings, and potentially defining engineering change proposals (ECPs) with benefits, value proposition and financial details. The Business Analyst will formulate value propositions through requirements specifications, presentations and analysis of gaps, pain points, or opportunities for innovation and/or process improvement.
KeyAreas of Responsibility
- Lead the definition and refinement of processes based on end-user interviews/workshops or pain points gathered within AJISS and/or the DND/RCN.
- Apply LEAN techniques, including Value Stream Mapping, to assess enterprise process maturity.
- Formulate value propositions in engagements with sponsors/customers.
- Deliver requirements, pain points and opportunities through analysis of existing tools, processes and data.
- Coordinate with the AJISS Team to ensure coherent messaging to the AJISS Customer.
- Lead the development of ECPs per the approved AJISS template, including description, benefits, cost breakdown, and value proposition.
- Promote a collaborative and innovative culture to DND/RCN and across the AJISS Enterprise.
- 6+ years of experience documenting business processes and system requirements.
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience within the last 6 years leading Business Analysis activities or workshops in a large-scale project.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with a track record of successful outcomes.
- Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn.
- Strong relationship-building across the business through excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills in English, written and verbal.
- University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or a relevant discipline.
- Experience in business/enterprise architecture.
- Practical experience in design thinking/design workshops.
- Experience in developing business strategies.
- Experience in a Navy or Aviation maintenance context.
Position Requirements
- Occasional travel to the East or West Coast.
- Canada – Access to Controlled Goods;
Security Clearance; eligibility to obtain required clearances including Canadian NATO Secret clearance.
