We’re looking for an Operations Support role to provide technical support and troubleshooting for the DND Satellite Communications Operations Centre (SOC) in downtown Ottawa. This full‑time position offers training, scheduled shifts, and benefits.
Job Description- Logging & processing of technical events and/or generation of incident reports.
- Assisting clients with minor troubleshooting and modem configurations.
- Processing Satellite Access Requests and validating & implementing Satellite Access Authorizations.
- Answering SOC phone, e‑mail, and chat messages.
- Coordinating satellite access and de‑access activities with DND Operational units.
- Providing on‑the‑job training for new SOC Operators.
- Performing shift hand‑over briefings.
- Collecting and processing post‑mission information.
- Producing weekly/monthly reports.
- Remote monitoring and control of Satellite Anchor Stations.
- Two to three years of college diploma as a Technologist and/or equivalent experience, specializing in electronics, telecommunications.
- Effective communication with customers at a variety of authoritative levels.
- Ability to troubleshoot using initiative and judgment, applying knowledge gained from prior experience.
- Flexibility and quick, knowledgeable response to technical and customer‑service related issues.
- Good appreciation of the customer’s facility, methods of operation, and sensitivities.
- Proficiency with computer desktop applications (Microsoft Office tools).
- Previous Canadian Forces experience or working in a military environment.
- Experience with commercial and/or military SATCOM networks.
- Experience with large terrestrial SATCOM terminals.
All employees must be security assessed and meet Canadian government clearance requirements. General Dynamics Mission Systems‑Canada is registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program. Successful applicants must also be eligible to work in Canada.
Additional InformationThe expected hiring range for this position is $65,000 – $75,000 CAD per annum, based on qualifications, relevant experience, technical and non‑technical skills, education, and internal equity.
