Overview

Real Estate Law Clerk – Ottawa

An established Ottawa law firm is seeking a Real Estate Law Clerk to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with experience in residential and commercial real estate transactions who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing real estate files from start to finish, handling both residential and commercial transactions as well as private and institutional financing. You will liaise with clients and third parties, prepare legal documentation, and provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.

Salary - $58,000 - $65,000 (based on experience)

Location - Downtown, Ottawa

Responsibilities
  • Manage residential and commercial real estate files from opening through to final reporting.
  • Handle private and institutional real estate financing (acting for both lenders and borrowers).
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents such as agreements of purchase and sale, mortgages, deeds, and transfers.
  • Conduct title and off-title searches, review tax certificates, and complete due diligence.
  • Communicate with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other stakeholders throughout the transaction.
  • Provide administrative support, including billing, collections, scheduling, and maintaining deadlines.
  • Other duties as required to support the real estate practice.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in real estate law within a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of residential and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Unity, Teraview, Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, and Docu Sign.
  • Knowledge of Ghost Practice and Net Documents is an asset.
