Position InformationThe nurse practitioner (NP) in the Wellness Beyond Cancer Program survivorship programme is pivotal in ensuring comprehensive care for patients at high risk of recurrence for breast and GI cancers. The NP is responsible for cancer surveillance per clinical practice guidelines, monitoring patients to detect signs of recurrence, and managing the long‑term toxicity of cancer treatments. The NP also supports psychosocial issues related to cancer survivorship, providing emotional support and resources to help patients navigate life after cancer treatment.
This holistic approach ensures well‑rounded care addressing both medical and emotional needs.
Rotation:
General Campus at the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre.
Shifts:
Days, 8‑hour shifts. (Hospital reserves the right to change.)
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification/licence as a Nurse Practitioner RN(EC)
- Two (2) years of current experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting
- Minimum three (3) months nursing experience caring for oncology patients
- Experience working independently within an interdisciplinary team
- Member of RNAO and NPAO
- Demonstrated organisational, conceptual and leadership skills
- Advanced practice skills and competence in interpersonal relationships, problem solving, collaboration and innovation
- Effective and concise communication, both orally and in writing
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Member of CANO
- CNA certification in Oncology Nursing
- Minimum two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Nurse
- Proficiency in English and French (oral expression and comprehension – advanced level)
