Position Overview
A staff nursing RPN position of 0.50 FTE in our community-based residence hospice. This position includes eight (8) eight‑hour regularly scheduled shifts at May Court Hospice. The current schedule consists of five (5) day shifts, three (3) evening shifts, every other weekend standby.
Based on staffing needs, the successful applicant can pick up extra shifts up to a 1.0 FTE. Pick‑up shifts will not increase the FTE. The applicant may be required to transfer to an alternate site. The rate of pay is the current Hospice Care Ottawa RPN rate based on the wage schedule in the collective agreement.

This position is not eligible for group benefits but is eligible for paid personal/sick leave.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlans, coordinates, delivers and supports a team to provide day‑to‑day end‑of‑life palliative care for the residents in the hospice and their families and/or significant others.
Reporting RelationshipAll employees of Hospice Care Ottawa are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 and continue to comply with our vaccination policy.
Key Performance Indicators- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to Personal Support Workers, residence volunteers, new staff, students, and physicians.
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and holistic nursing care, including administering prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring personal care needs are met, and supporting patients and families emotionally and spiritually.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including charting, medication records, and care plans.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, pharmacies, interdisciplinary team members, and family support services to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate actively in resident rounds, team meetings, education sessions, and hospice‑wide initiatives such as Skills Week and Health and Safety updates.
- Uphold standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and a clean, supportive environment within the residence.
- Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in managing end‑of‑life care, including appropriate procedures following a resident’s death.
- Contribute to organizational culture and growth by engaging in mentorship, committee work, and community activities such as fundraising and volunteer appreciation events.
