Resource Innovations is a women‑led energy transformation firm focused on impact. We provide empirically based research and program evaluations to support energy efficiency programs and energy transition efforts in Canada and the United States. We are currently seeking a Lead Demand Side Management (DSM) Research and Evaluation Lead to join our Advisory Services team, based in Canada (remote or Toronto, Ontario office).
The role requires 5‑8 years of relevant experience and involves research, evaluation, technical oversight, mentorship, and project management.
As the lead researcher, you will manage task execution, oversee data collection, support report writing and presentation preparation, and contribute to new work proposals and budgets. You will work closely with senior consulting teams and external partners to deliver high‑quality, on‑time research deliverables.
Responsibilities- Lead and conduct research and process evaluations of energy efficiency and DSM programs, including customer behavior.
- Develop data collection instruments and oversee primary and secondary data collection efforts.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare detailed analytical findings.
- Support technical report writing and draft reports that include actionable recommendations.
- Create presentations, papers, and proposals for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage project tasks to ensure on‑time, within‑budget delivery.
- Present research findings to clients and teaming partners.
- Contribute to research plans, scopes of work, and budgets for new projects.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical oversight.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (social science, economics, policy, environmental science, engineering).
- At least five years of experience in DSM, energy efficiency programs, behavioral research, market research, or program evaluation.
- Strong analytical and research aptitude.
- Knowledge of survey and interview design, implementation, and analysis.
- Experience preparing detailed analytical reports.
- Excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
- Interest in sustainability and a passion for making a meaningful environmental impact.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency program processes, theory logic models, customer journey maps, net‑to‑gross analyses, and market effects evaluation.
- Experience in survey and interview‑based research and proficiency with Qualtrics.
- Quantitative analysis skills; ability to use Excel and statistical software such as R.
- Knowledge of behavioral science principles and organizational decision‑making.
- Strong client relationship building and collaborative problem‑solving abilities.
- Base salary range: $103,000 – $152,000 CAD, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
