Canadian Blood Services is seeking a temporary full‑time Research Associate, Biostatistician/SAS Programmer to join our Donation Policy and Studies team in the Medical Affairs and Innovation division. The Epidemiology department supports surveillance of blood‑transmissible infections, research on donor selection criteria, and evaluation of donor health criteria.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a large SAS database, extracting data, and preparing datasets for analysis.
- Conducting statistical analysis and interpreting study results.
- Preparing internal and external reports.
- Supervising research assistants and clerical staff.
- Supporting all aspects of operations.
- Manage a complex SAS database, extract data, prepare datasets, and validate data.
- Organize and carry out analytic activities; maintain research protocols; develop analytic plans.
- Advising the Associate Director on new statistical methodologies.
- Apply analytical and statistical techniques to evaluate results.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication and present results.
- Lead and collaborate across a diverse team; supervise staff.
- MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
- Extensive SAS database management experience (data extraction, linkage, validation, manipulation).
- Experience with R or SQL programming is an asset.
- Record of publication in scientific journals.
- Strong technical and statistical software skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Experience with administrative health records is an asset.
