Bilingual Housing Support Worker – Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm–10:30 pm (Full‑time Permanent)
Overview
The YMCA of the National Capital Region is a charitable organization serving more than 2.25 million Canadians annually. This role is part of the Housing Services Team, supporting residents in affordable/social housing programs and providing 24‑7 coverage to meet client needs.
Working Hours
Mon‑Fri, 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide information on eligibility for Y housing services and community housing options.
- Conduct intake assessments, advocacy, support, referral, and crisis intervention for residents.
- Maintain accurate client records, statistical reports, and filing systems.
- Build and maintain partnerships with mental, physical health, and other relevant agencies.
- Perform security and administrative tasks for the support office.
- Assist in 24‑hour double coverage, including after‑hours and overnight support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Post‑secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English and French, oral and written; additional languages are an asset.
- Minimum two years’ experience in social services, including at least one year in housing.
- Knowledge of suicide intervention and non‑violent crisis intervention; training preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent client‑service skills.
- Ability to work with diverse clients and create a welcoming environment.
Additional Requirements
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification.
- Valid Canadian work permit.
- Police record check not older than six months.
- Annual (semi‑annual) mandatory training for child & youth protection.
