Staff Software Development Engineer

Job Description

As a staff engineer you will be responsible for developing diagnostics software and leading hardware bring‑up activities with a focus on quality and adherence to project schedules. You will work in a cross‑functional team environment to debug and resolve technical issues, enhance the proprietary diagnostics software framework, third‑party vendor libraries, and develop test cases for hardware testing during the design and manufacturing stages.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality output by developing diagnostics software for embedded systems, focusing on project schedules.
  • Lead diagnostics development and hardware bring‑up efforts.
  • Scope, plan and execute diagnostics software development in an Agile environment.
  • Address field issues, execute feature enhancements and defect fixes.
  • Work with HW, ASIC, FPGA, FW, and SW teams and design tests to verify hardware functionality in prototyping and manufacturing stages.
  • Perform root cause analysis for customer‑found defects.
  • Create design and user guide documents.
Key Skills and Experience Required Skills for Candidates
  • BS/MS with 8 to 11 years of experience in developing diagnostics software for embedded systems.
  • Experience in a cross‑functional product development environment involved in carrier‑class telecommunication products.
  • Hands‑on experience in developing diagnostics, requirement gathering, design and test plan reviews.
  • Hands‑on experience with test equipment such as traffic generators and JTAG debuggers.
  • Proficiency in Linux and C/C++ for embedded systems, including microcontroller‑based systems.
  • Quick‑learner, self‑starter, energetic, flexible and positive.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with software version control (GIT) and bug tracking tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with diagnostic frameworks, hardware health monitoring, or POST systems.
  • Basic understanding of electronics schematics and hardware design.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols (I²C, SPI, Ethernet, PCIe).
  • Experience in collaborating with geographically separated teams.
  • Hands‑on experience in hardware bring‑up and Uboot boot loader.
Desired Skills for Candidates
  • Knowledge of Python and scripting‑based automation.
  • Familiarity with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, Thread

    X, etc.).
  • Hands‑on development experience with Infineon microcontroller‑based systems.
