Bilingual Dispatcher (Float)

Dynacare is currently looking to hire a Bilingual Dispatcher (Float) to join our Transportation team in Ottawa, ON or Brampton, ON. This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity working 37.5 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly responsible for dispatching all drivers and assigning all route related equipment and supplies.
  • Take all customer pickup request calls and dispatch stat and non‑stat calls cost‑effectively, ensuring applicable collection times are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure compliance with TDG Act and all protocols/processes for all drivers.
  • Complete all assigned administrative duties timely and act as backup route representative as required.
  • Assign vehicles and route equipment, ensure client reports and supplies dispatched.
  • Maintain route schedules, manifests up to date, accurate.
  • Ensure driver compliance with TDG regulations.
  • Maintain driver communication equipment, ensure daily schedules taken, remedial action for delays.
  • Assist with vehicle inspection for specimens; ensure no specimens, reports, supplies left.
  • Verify vehicle cleanliness.
  • Control building rear entrance access and complete documentation.
  • Collect and deposit cash bags, complete turn‑in logs.
  • Ship internal and external documents.
  • Complete inbound call tracking logs, stat tracking.
  • Collect driver paperwork for supervisor approval.
  • Report health and safety hazards and work in compliance with safe practices.
  • Report equipment/area defects to supervisor timely.
  • Liaise with couriers and ops managers for schedules/pickup.
  • Perform delivery investigations.
  • Manage and track stat schedules and route orders.
  • Work with senior logistics coordinators to ensure accuracy of routes and meet service levels.
Qualifications
  • Secondary school or equivalent education required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract, understanding of routes and geography.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • 3–5 years related experience in manual dispatching.
  • Proficient with Excel and email.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work effectively in a high‑paced environment with little or no supervision.
  • Good telephone manner; ability to diffuse difficult situations with clients and drivers.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with little or no forewarning without immediate availability to supervisors.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Effective, clear and concise communicator who follows up on instructions.
  • Ability to work with internal departments and pressure to deliver superior service levels.
  • No disciplinary communication on file.
  • Criminal background verification must be met as a condition of employment*.
