About New Wave EventsNew Wave Events is an established events company that provides team‑building events and evening entertainment, specialising in dragon boat racing. With an office team and up to 50 part‑time staff in summer, we are a modern, evolving team excited to welcome an additional member.
Summary of the JobWe are looking for someone to work in the logistics (equipment) element of the company and on our events during the summer season. The role mixes warehouse/office days with event days, offering new challenges every day.
HoursDuring the summer season (May–October) you will typically work most weekends and 3–4 weekdays per week, with hours varying by event. In winter, hours are ordinarily Monday‑Friday; we also operate a 4‑day work week from November to February where possible.
Equipment and Logistics- Manage loading schedules and load/unload vans.
- Pick up vans and other equipment needed for the week ahead.
- Ensure all vehicles are road‑worthy and equipment ready for use.
- Assist in managing and monitoring drivers’ hours, downloading and analysing tachograph data.
- Maintain boats and all equipment.
- Liaise with the office team to create schedules, manage time and arrange pickups.
- Plan operations to maintain attention to detail and efficiency.
- Assist in other office tasks on quieter days.
- During winter: refresh equipment for the next season (fix breakages, deep maintenance, purchase new equipment).
- Book and arrange equipment servicing.
- Assist the office team with venue finding, site visits and supplier negotiations.
- Attend festival promotion events with team members.
- Drive vans and travel with crew to different UK locations, including early starts and late finishes.
- Tow boat trailers (training provided).
- Set up and de‑rig all event equipment as part of a team.
- Receive training in all event roles (Event Manager, Boat Marshal, Helm, Race Starter, Finish Judges).
- Provide excellent customer service and promote New Wave Events.
- Maintain health and safety awareness and coordinate with on‑site medics.
- Manage other staff members on events.
- Some events require overnight stays; food, accommodation and travel will be provided.
- Full UK driving licence (required).
- Basic DIY skills.
- Experience with fibreglass (bonus).
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Outgoing personality and confident in dealing with people at all levels.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Confident driver and capable of heavy lifting.
- Interest in the events industry and enthusiasm to learn new skills.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work hard and contribute new ideas to the business.
