Midwife

Here in Oxfordshire, we offer women and healthcare professionals a unique set up of our Maternity Services where around 7500 babies are born annually. We have 4 stand‑alone Midwifery Led Birth units within the county based at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford as well as offering home births to all areas. There is also an integrated birth unit where around 10% of birthing people choose to go in labour.

As a large Tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe offers a large Delivery Suite with an en‑suite birthing pool room, 3 Maternity theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward. We currently have rotational roles available for Band 6 Midwives within the John Radcliffe hospital setting. Here in Oxfordshire, we offer a unique set up of our Maternity Services with around 7500 babies born annually.

As a tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe is composed of a Delivery Suite with 3 Maternity Theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward. We work closely with specialist services such as the Fetal and Maternal Medicine Unit, Breech Team, and Maternity Bereavement Teams. Midwives employed within the service have the opportunity to rotate to all our units/departments providing care to both low and high risk women.

For those working with us, we have a substantial support network for staff, focusing on wellbeing and development. This includes a team of professional Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champions, staff networks and a staff Maternity Psychologist. You will be supported by the Practice Development Team who provide regular study days and updates and support staff clinically. We champion diversity and strive to ensure every member of our team feels included, valued, and has the confidence to speak up and be heard.

• Registered Midwife with current UK Registration and minimum of 12 months experience
• Understand OUH maternity service
• Desirable criteria
  • Mentor qualification
  • NIPE trained
  • Working at a Band 6 midwife across numerous settings, you must have appropriate UK professional registration
