Paediatric Nurse - Band 5

The Band 5 Registered Nurse in Paediatrics plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, family‑centred care to children and young people with a range of acute and chronic conditions. As a key member of the paediatric team in Oxford, the post holder ensures safe, effective, and compassionate care while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.

We are currently looking for several nurses that fit this skill set to work in Oxford. Hours can be full time or flexible.

• Deliver safe, effective, high-quality nursing care to children and young people.
• Undertake holistic assessments and contribute to individualised care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments in line with paediatric protocols and policies.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to clinical and safeguarding guidelines.
• Work closely with doctors, AHPs, and wider MDT to support coordinated care.
• Provide emotional support, education, and reassurance to patients and their families/carers.
• Support service development, quality improvement, and infection prevention initiatives.
• Participate in training, teaching, and supervision where appropriate.

• Relevant professional nursing qualification and current NMC registration (Child/Paediatric preferred or relevant experience with children).
• Experience in paediatric nursing or a strong interest in developing skills in this specialty.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with children, young people, and families.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing a varied workload.
• Commitment to evidence‑based, family‑centred care.
• Understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management in paediatrics.
• Professionalism, reliability, and effective problem‑solving skills.
