Senior Computational Genomics Scientist/ Bioinformatician
Are you a computational genomics scientist or bioinformatician who enjoys turning complex genomic data into real biological insight? Whether you operate at a senior or principal level, this role offers the opportunity to sit at the heart of discovery science shaping how non-coding genome data drives target discovery and therapeutic innovation.
THE COMPANYThis cutting-edge biotech is unlocking the power of the human non-coding genome to transform our understanding of immune‑mediated and complex diseases. By combining high‑resolution 3D genome architecture, functional genomics, advanced sequencing, and computational innovation, the organization is revealing novel regulatory mechanisms and first‑in‑class therapeutic targets.
Based in Oxford, the company brings together experimental biologists, computational scientists, data engineers, and drug discovery experts in a deeply collaborative environment where computation is central to scientific decision‑making.
THE ROLEAs a Computational Genomics Scientist, you will play a key role in transforming large‑scale genomic and perturbation datasets into actionable biological insight. This is a science‑led role for someone who not only builds robust pipelines, but also thinks deeply about biology, experimental design, and interpretation, developing bespoke analytical approaches where standard tools fall short. You will be in a collaborative multidisciplinary company where you will be the bridge between functional genomics and computational and engineering teams.
The exact seniority of this role is flexible and will be aligned to your experience, impact, and scope of ownership rather than title alone.
Key responsibilities include:- Designing, implementing, and maintaining analysis pipelines for novel NGS and functional genomics workflows.
- Taking scientific ownership of major analyses, from framing biological questions through to interpretation and impact on discovery programmes.
- Developing custom analytical approaches for regulatory and non‑coding genome interpretation.
- A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Statistical Genetics, or a related discipline.
- Extensive hands‑on experience analysing NGS datasets across multiple modalities.
- Proven ability to develop bioinformatics workflows for novel or non‑standard biological problems.
- Exposure to industry drug discovery or target validation environments.
- Location: Oxford (hybrid working available)
- Contract: Permanent, full‑time
If you’re motivated by deep biological questions, complex data, and seeing your analyses directly shape discovery decisions, apply now!
I look forward to speaking with you.
