Boys Basketball Assistant Coach- Middle School

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for the Boys Middle School Basketball team at Penn's Grove. This seasonal position requires a passion for basketball, a commitment to student‑athlete development, and the ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and other staff members. The ideal candidate will help foster a positive and competitive environment, encouraging players to improve their skills and enjoy the game.

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
• Provide individual and group instruction to players to enhance their basketball skills and understanding of the game.
• Help organize and supervise team activities, including games, practices, and team meetings.
• Monitor player attendance and conduct regular assessments of player performance and progress.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players, coaches, and opponents.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
• Assist with the coordination of team travel, equipment management, and other logistical needs.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of all players during practices and games.
• Support the head coach in maintaining discipline and enforcing team rules and policies.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of the game.

• Previous experience in coaching or playing basketball at the middle school level or higher is preferred.
• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with fellow coaches and staff.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student‑athletes.
• Availability for afternoon and evening practices and games, as well as occasional weekends.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
• A background check will be required prior to hiring.
• Must be able to model and promote a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
