Senior Mineral Processing Engineer

Our client, a prominent mining and minerals processing company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Mineral Processing Engineer to join their technical team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is integral to optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of their mineral processing plants, ensuring maximum recovery of valuable commodities while minimizing environmental impact. The successful candidate will apply their deep understanding of mineral processing principles to diagnose operational issues, implement process improvements, and contribute to the development of new processing technologies.

• Monitor and analyze plant performance data to identify trends and areas for optimization in areas such as grinding, flotation, and dewatering.
• Troubleshoot operational problems and develop effective solutions to improve recovery, throughput, and product quality.
• Conduct test work and pilot plant studies to evaluate new process technologies and reagents.
• Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure stable and efficient plant operation.
• Collaborate with plant operators, maintenance staff, and metallurgists to implement process changes and improvements.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations on process performance and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assist in the design and commissioning of new processing equipment and circuits.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to site personnel.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in mineral processing technology and practices.

• BSc/BEng in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mineral processing operations and technical support.
• Strong understanding of the principles and practices of comminution, solid-liquid separation, and flotation.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) is advantageous.
• Proven experience in process optimization and troubleshooting in a plant environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Experience with base metals or precious metals processing is a plus.
• A proactive and results-oriented approach to work.
