Position: Contract Manager - Central & East Scotland

Optimus Decorating is a professional painting and decorating contractor based in Paisley, Scotland. We provide high-quality services for new build housing, industrial and commercial projects. Our team focuses on customer satisfaction and attention to detail, driving repeat business.

Contracts Manager

Reporting to the Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for the safe, profitable and timely delivery of multiple painting and decorating contracts throughout Central & East Scotland. You’ll be the key link between our clients, site teams and the office.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects from pre-start to final handover
  • Attend pre-start, progress and handover meetings with clients and main contractors
  • Review scopes, drawings and specifications; highlight risks and variations
  • Plan labour, materials and access requirements to deliver projects efficiently
  • Coordinate and supervise site supervisors and painting & taping squads
  • Ensure quality standards and snag‑free completion in line with client expectations
  • Monitor programme, progress and site records; implement recovery plans where needed
  • Manage variations and final accounts in conjunction with the office
  • Ensure compliance with H&S legislation, RAMS and company procedures
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable on site and in front of clients.

  • Experience as a Contracts Manager / Project Manager / Senior Supervisor within painting & decorating or a related trades contracting environment
  • Strong understanding of site operations, programmes and construction processes
  • Good commercial awareness – variations, valuations, cost control
  • Proven ability to manage multiple jobs at different stages
  • Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and basic project/admin systems
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Trade background in painting & decorating or similar
Desirable (nice to have)
  • Experience working with main contractors on commercial / new‑build / refurbishment projects
  • SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS and relevant H&S training
